Bio: Merriman has impressed at all levels and made his first team debut in Gloucester’s Powergen Cup game against London Irish at the end of 2003. The Welsh open-side is a student at Gloucester’s Hartpury College, but injured his ACL during the 2004 pre-season. He is well-respected in the Wales international set-up and was captain of his country’s U21s when they played England at Kingsholm in March 2004. He trained with Phil Vickery to regain fitness and is exceptionally well thought of by the Gloucester management. Merriman is quick and strong and the try he scored against Doncaster was the finish of a winger rather than a forward.
